The Bones of Things
Short Film
Inspired by the writings of Flannery O’Connor and Cormac McCarthy, The Bones of Things aimed to capture poetic language of Southern Literature and re-frame it within the context of a New Zealand setting. The visual style of the film was largely influenced by films such as Terrence Malick’s Days of Heaven and the paintings of Andrew Wyeth. These were lofty ambitions with limited resource, but everyone involved aimed high to capture the sun drenched beauty of rural New Zealand, which includes the dust, the dirt, the sweat and the mould. And of course, the blood.
